STUDIO POLICIES

The Dredge Studio is dedicated to helping each student unlock his or her full potential as a performer and vocalist. I aim to create an environment that inspires both musicianship and personal growth. This goal can be maintained only with your cooperation; therefore, the following policies must be upheld.

Cancellations

The studio maintains a very strict 24 hour cancellation policy. In the event of extreme sickness or emergency this policy may be waved. Please text if you are running behind. If the agreed upon lesson time is no longer compatible, please consult The Dredge Studio Lesson Exchange List where you can communicate with other students about switching lesson times. One make-up lesson per trimester will be allowed with 24 hour advanced notice of cancellation.

Payment

The Dredge Studio offers both a discounted trimester and "pay by the lesson" payment options. The Fall 2019 Trimester payments are due in full by September 15. Payment may be made in cash, check, PayPal, or PopMoney. Please make checks payable to Sarah Vincelett Dredge. Any returned checks must be reimbursed with an added NSF fee of $30. Click here to see this year’s tuition. When following the "pay by the lesson" option, payment is due in full upon your first lesson of the month. Lessons must be used within three months of purchase date to avoid expiration. A late fee of $5 will be applied to payments more than 10 days past due.

Make-up Policy

Trimester based students are allowed one make-up per term, providing that cancellations are made before the 24-hour cancellation window. Two make-up days are available during the trimester with dates provided at the beginning of the trimester. Make-up dates are posted here. In the case of my absence (the teacher), lessons will be made up within the given trimester at a time agreed upon by both parties. In the event that an agreed upon time cannot be found, lesson payments will be applied to the following trimester. In the event that I must be gone for an extended amount of time, a comparable substitute teacher will be provided. The Dredge Studio does not provide cash refunds.

Tardiness/Early Arrivals

If a student is late, the lesson cannot be extended. There is a 15-minute courtesy period before the lesson is considered a no-show and the lesson is forfeited. A text-message is appreciated if you are running late. If you arrive early, text to ask if there is early availability.

Additional Fees/Supplies

Please be aware that additional books, CDs, and learning materials may need to be purchased for you or your student. These typically do not exceed $50 per year. Additional resources can be found for free or little charge at your local library (Minuteman Library Network has an excellent inter-library loan program) and on ISLMP.org. Feel free to also check out local collegiate music school libraries- Longy School of Music (close to Harvard Square), New England Conservatory, Boston University, and Brandeis have excellent resources. Additional music purchasing sights are Hickeys.com, Musicnotes.com, Amazon.com, and Spectrum Music (located in Lexington Center).

Hydration
Please bring a bottle of water with you to your lesson, as singing is an intensive respiratory activity. Hydration throughout the day of your lesson is important and is a vital part of vocal hygiene.

Parking
Please park along the street with mindfulness towards neighbor’s driveway spaces. Brantwood Rd. has ample street parking. In the event of snow, please allow for additional parking time.

Parent Observations
Parents are welcome to observe lessons at any time. Parents are also welcome to relax in a sitting room adjacent to the studio space. Menotomy Rocks Park is located at the end of Brantwood Rd. and is perfect for a short walk.

All Are Welcome

The Dredge Studio does not and shall not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status, in any of its activities or operations. Music is a universal language.
